On Wednesday, October 25th, former NFL kicker Mike Vanderjagt spoke to the Medina Rotary Club.
Vanderjagt spoke of his many ups and downs during his career leading up to the NFL. He relayed that he was cut many times but always stuck with it. Eventually, he said, opportunities came and he took advantage of them.
At one time he played in the CFL’s Roughriders before being signed by the Indianapolis Colts. There, Vanderjagt became the first kicker to go through an entire season, including playoffs, without missing an extra point or field goal,
When he retired from the NFL in 2006 he was the league’s all-time field goal percentage leader. Even today he is still in the top 10.
Since then, Vanderjagt founded SlapItOn, becoming its CEO. Slapiton produced interactive products featuring social media influencers, athletes and celebrities.
SlapItOn has since bought out Fathead and Vanderjagt is now part owner.
Currently, Vanderjagt also serves as the Special Teams Coach for the Medina NY high school football team.
The Medina Rotary Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday at noon at the Walsh Hotel in Medina.
