History
The Annual Summer Wine & Cheese Party began in 1984. The event was
inspired by the desire of Dr. Bijay Jayaswal and the Medina Rotary Club to
benefit Medina through a gift to Medina General Hospital.
The original theme, "From the Hands of Champions Come Gifts from the Heart," focused on the beneficiary of the funds. The event's fund continue to benefit The Medina Genreal Hospital Foundation, having donated over $173,000 since inception to better the services provided to our community. In addition to the Cardiac Unit, donations over the years have provided for equipment to the Emergency Department, Oncology Department, EMS and Neurology Services, as well as fetal monitoring and replay system, Advanced Life Support (ALS), patient monitoring console, a Community Resource Library, a security vehicle, a cryostat machine, a treadmill for Cardiac Rehabilitation and a newborn hearing screener.
In recognition of your support of this important community event, The Medina Rotary extends sincere thanks.
The success of this event can be attributed to the efforts of many: Carl and Sherry Abell and Stop-N-Go Food and Beverages; Dr. Bijay Jayaswal; the medical and administrative staff at Medina General Hospital; and the Medina Rotary Club members, sponsors and friends.
This community event continues to represent the desire of The Medina Rotary Club to demonstrate the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self" through this annual gift to The Medina General Hospital Foundation.
